The neighbourhood of Blue Quill Estates is located in south west Edmonton. Blue Quill Estates and its adjoining neighbourhood of Blue Quill are both named in honour of Chief Blue Quill of the Saddle Lake Band. A little over half of the homes in Blue Quill Estates were built in the 1970s – a total of 55.5% – according to the 2001 federal census. Another 34.5% were built in the 19890s. Of the remaining 10%, half were built before the 1970s, and half were built in the 1990s. The most common type of home in Blue Quill Estates is the single-family home, according to the 2005 municipal census, and make up 46% of all homes in Blue Quill Estates.
