The neighbourhood of Allendale is found in south west Edmonton. According to the 2001 federal census, 9% of homes in Allendale were built before the end of the second World War. Between 1946 and 1960, 48.1% of homes in the neighbourhood were built, and between 1960-1979, 34.6% of homes were built. Single family homes are the most common type of home in Allendale, according to the 2005 municipal census, making up 72% of homes. Another 15% are rented apartments, and 12% are duplexes. A total of 54% of homes in Allendale are owner-occupied. There is only one school in Allendale, and it operates under the Edmonton Public School System, called Allendale Elementary Junior High School.
