The neighbourhood of Prince Ruper is a triangle-shaped neighbourhood located in west Edmonton. The neighbourhood is located within the old Hudson’s Bay Reserve. 71.2% of all homes in Prince Rupert were built between 1946 and 1960, according to the 2001 federal census. Another 8.5% were built during the 1960s, and 8.5% were built during the late 1990s. According to the 2005 municipal census, single-family homes are the most common type of home in the neighbourhood, making up 60% of the neighbourhood’s homes. Another 34% are low-rise apartments, and 6% are duplexes. A total of 53% of Prince Rupert homes are owner-occupied. There is one neighbourhood school operated by the Edmonton Public School System, called Prince Rupert Elementary School.
