The neighbourhood of McQueen is found in west Edmonton, and is named after minister David George McQueen, who was minister at Edmonton’s First Presbyterian Church for 43 years from 1887 to 1930. Between the end of World War II and 1960 is when most of the homes in McQueen were built, according to the 2001 federal census. During that time period, a total of 60.2% of McQueen homes were built. Single-family homes are the most common type of home in McQueen, according to the 2005 municipal census, and they make up 54% of all McQueen homes. Another 28% are low-rise apartments, and 3% are duplexes.
