The neighbourhood of Kildare is found in north east Edmonton. It is a mixture of residential and commercial. Residential development of Kildare started in the 1960s and 1970s, with 78.2% of all neighborhood homes built in those two decades. The most common type of home in Kildare is the single-family home, according to the 2005 municipal census. 47% of Kildare homes are single-family homes. Another 24% of Kildare homes are row houses, 19% are apartments, and 9% are duplexes. A total of 68% of Kildare homes are owner-occupied.
