Mission Park St. Albert Real Estate

The thriving city of St. Albert is home to the subdivision of Mission Park. St. Albert was founded by Father Albert Lacombe, OMI, in 1861. Father Albert Lacombe built a small chapel called the Father Lacombe chapel, which is located in the Sturgeon River valley and still stands to this day on Mission Hill. The original settlement of St. Albert was named so by Bishop Alexandre-Antonin Taché, OMI, after Saint Albert of Louvain – Father Lacombe’s name saint. Father Lacombe originally intended to found the mission in Lac Ste. Anne, but he found the soil there to be infertile and then moved the settlement to what is now known as St. Albert. There were several advantages to the location: easy access to wood and water, fertile soil, and that it was a regular stopping point for the First Nations peoples while on their travels, as well as it’s proximity to Fort Edmonton.
